It is going to be topic of next posts a discussion on mathematical models in the Hydraulic Engineering field. Now we’d like to suggest two free software package for the simulation of one and two-dimensional analysis of environmental flows. They are developed and distribuited by The Nationale Center for Computational Hydroscience and Enginneering (University of Mississipi).
The 1-D mathematical model (CCHE1D) allows to simulate unsteady flows and sediment transport in dendritic channel networks. It is organized in a main Hydrodynamic module, with modules to simulate the sediment transport and the water quality. We are not experienced in this model, but this tool is quite powerfull to point out the attention. Let us know if you have references, experiences to suggest.
The 2-D mathematical model (CCHE2D) is a software based on the integration of depth-integrated Reynolds equations to simulate river flows, non-uniform sediment transport, morphological processes, coastal processes, pollutant transport and water quality. We have used the Hydrodynamic Module, and we are satisfied. We are beginning to use the add-on modules.
The two software packages are well documented too.
To next posts a deep discussion about the CCHE mathematical models.
